Do you take mattresses and box springs?
Yes, Clear The Clutter removes mattresses and box springs of all sizes including twin, full, queen, king, and California king. We also take adjustable bed bases, futon mattresses, crib mattresses, sofa bed mattresses, and memory foam toppers. Mattress disposal in Winnebago County can be challenging because most mattresses cannot be placed curbside for regular trash pickup and many donation centers do not accept them for hygiene reasons. Clear The Clutter handles mattress removal as part of our standard volume-based pricing — a single mattress and box spring pickup falls under our $100 minimum. If you are replacing a mattress and the delivery company will not take the old one, text a photo to (920) 424-9827 and we can often schedule a same-day pickup in Oshkosh. We recycle mattress components including metal springs and wood frames when possible.
Can Clear The Clutter remove a hot tub?
Yes, hot tub removal is one of our specialty services. Clear The Clutter handles the complete hot tub removal process including disconnection from non-electrical utilities, cutting or disassembling the shell into sections, removing the frame and internal components, loading all pieces into our truck, hauling everything away, and cleaning the area where the hot tub sat. Most standard outdoor hot tub removals are completed in two to three hours. Hot tub removal pricing starts at $250 for a unit with clear ground-level access. Hot tubs located on elevated decks, inside screened porches, in tight backyard spaces, or requiring crane access may cost more due to additional labor and time. We recommend having a licensed electrician disconnect the electrical wiring before our arrival for safety. Text a photo of your hot tub and its location to (920) 424-9827 for a precise quote.
Does Clear The Clutter take construction and renovation debris?
Yes, we remove most types of construction and renovation debris for both homeowners and contractors. Accepted construction materials include drywall and sheetrock, lumber and framing wood, plywood and OSB, old carpet and carpet padding, ceramic and porcelain tile, vinyl and laminate flooring, old cabinets and countertops, bathroom vanities and fixtures, plumbing pipes and fittings, electrical wire and conduit, insulation including fiberglass batts, door frames and trim, window frames, roofing shingles in moderate quantities, concrete and brick in small amounts under 500 pounds, and general mixed renovation waste. For very large volumes of heavy materials such as concrete, brick, stone, or an entire roof worth of shingles, there may be a weight surcharge discussed before the job begins. Construction debris pricing follows our standard volume rates with half-truck loads starts at $250 and full truck loads starting at $500.
What electronics does Clear The Clutter recycle?
Clear The Clutter accepts and responsibly recycles all types of consumer and commercial electronics. This includes CRT televisions, flat-screen TVs including LCD, LED, and plasma models, computer monitors, desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, servers, networking equipment including routers and switches, stereo systems, speakers, amplifiers, gaming consoles, VCRs and DVD players, cell phones, telephone systems, UPS battery backups, and cables of all types. All electronics are taken to certified e-waste recycling facilities where hazardous components such as lead, mercury, and cadmium are safely extracted and processed in compliance with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regulations and EPA guidelines. Wisconsin law prohibits disposal of certain electronics in landfills, making proper recycling essential. There is no additional charge for electronics recycling beyond our standard volume-based pricing.
Can you remove a shed or deck?
Yes, Clear The Clutter offers complete shed removal and deck teardown services throughout Oshkosh and the Fox Valley. Shed removal starts at $300 and includes full dismantling of the structure, removal of all materials, and site cleanup. We can also remove the concrete blocks, pavers, or gravel base underneath if desired. Deck teardown starts at $300 and includes removal of all decking boards, railings, posts, stairs, and structural framing, as well as hauling away all debris. Concrete footings can be removed for an additional charge depending on their size and depth. We separate wood, metal fasteners, and other materials for recycling when possible. The price for shed and deck removal depends on size, material type, accessibility, and whether the structure is attached to the house. Text photos of your shed or deck to (920) 424-9827 for an exact quote. Most shed and deck removals are completed in half a day.
Does Clear The Clutter take tires?
Yes, we accept tires with an additional recycling fee of $5 for standard car tires and $10 for truck or SUV tires. Standard passenger car tires cost $5 to $10 per tire each, light truck and SUV tires cost $5 to $10 per tire each, and larger tires such as tractor or commercial vehicle tires cost $5 to $10 per tire each. Tires mounted on rims are accepted at the same per-tire rate. The additional fee covers the cost of proper tire recycling at licensed Wisconsin facilities, as tires cannot be disposed of in regular landfills under Wisconsin law. If you have a large number of tires, such as from a fleet or commercial operation, contact us for volume pricing. Tires are one of several specialty items that carry a recycling surcharge — others include refrigerant-containing appliances and CRT televisions, with a surcharge of $25 to $50 per freon unit and $10 to $25 per CRT television.
What about old paint cans?
Clear The Clutter can take dried paint cans — meaning cans where the paint has fully solidified and hardened. To check if your paint is dry, open the lid and press on the contents. If it is completely solid with no liquid remaining, we can take it. To speed up the drying process for partially full cans, mix in cat litter or sawdust and leave the lid off for several days until the contents solidify. We cannot accept cans containing liquid or wet paint because liquid paint is classified as household hazardous waste in Wisconsin and must be disposed of through Winnebago County's household hazardous waste collection program. Winnebago County residents can bring liquid paint to the Clean Sweep program held periodically throughout the year. Check the Winnebago County Solid Waste website for the next collection date. Empty paint cans with just dried residue can go in your regular trash.
Can you take a piano?
Yes, Clear The Clutter removes upright pianos, spinet pianos, console pianos, and digital pianos. Grand pianos and baby grand pianos can also be removed but require advance coordination due to their size and weight. Piano removal may carry an additional handling fee of typically $75 to $150 depending on the size and stairway access beyond standard volume pricing, depending on the piano type, its location in the home, and the number of stairs or tight spaces our crew must navigate. An upright piano on the main floor with a straight path to the door is straightforward. A grand piano in a second-floor room with a narrow staircase requires more crew members and specialized equipment. When requesting a piano removal quote, text a photo of the piano and describe its location including which floor it is on and any stairs involved. Our crew brings piano dollies and moving equipment to handle the job safely without damaging your floors or walls.
What happens to the items Clear The Clutter removes?
Every item Clear The Clutter removes goes through a sorting process before final disposition. Usable furniture including couches, tables, chairs, dressers, and beds in good condition are donated to our donation program through local donation centers and charities including Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore, where community members can purchase them at affordable prices. Working appliances are either donated or sold for reuse. Clothing, kitchenware, books, toys, and household goods in usable condition are also donated. Metals including steel, iron, aluminum, copper, and brass are separated and taken to local metal recycling facilities in the Fox Valley. Electronics including TVs, computers, and peripherals are delivered to certified e-waste recyclers. Cardboard, paper, and clean wood are recycled when facilities accept them. Yard waste and clean wood are composted or processed as biomass. Items that cannot be donated or recycled are disposed of at licensed disposal facilities in Winnebago County. On average, we work to divert as much as possible from landfills through donation and recycling.
Does Clear The Clutter take refrigerators and appliances with Freon?
Yes, Clear The Clutter removes refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units, dehumidifiers, and other appliances that contain refrigerant gases such as Freon, R-134a, or R-410A. These appliances require special handling because the refrigerant must be safely recovered by a certified technician before the unit can be recycled or disposed of. We transport these appliances to facilities with EPA-certified refrigerant recovery equipment. The cost of refrigerant recovery carries a small surcharge of $25 to $50 per unit for refrigerant-containing appliances including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Under the Clean Air Act and Wisconsin law, venting refrigerants into the atmosphere is illegal and can result in significant fines. By using Clear The Clutter for appliance removal, you can be confident that your old refrigerator or freezer is being handled in full compliance with environmental regulations.
Can you take concrete, brick, or stone?
Clear The Clutter can take small to moderate amounts of concrete, brick, stone, and masonry materials. For quantities under approximately 500 pounds — such as a few concrete blocks, a small section of broken sidewalk, or a pile of old bricks — the material is included in our standard volume-based pricing. For larger quantities, a weight surcharge may apply because heavy materials significantly reduce the amount of other items we can carry in a single load and increase disposal costs. The surcharge is always discussed and agreed upon before work begins. If you have a very large amount of concrete or masonry, such as an entire demolished patio, foundation, or retaining wall, a dedicated concrete hauling service or dumpster rental may be more cost-effective. Text photos of the concrete or masonry you need removed to (920) 424-9827 and Kevin will advise on the best and most affordable option for your specific situation.
What items does Clear The Clutter NOT accept?
For the safety of our crew and compliance with Wisconsin environmental regulations, Clear The Clutter cannot accept the following items: liquid paint and paint thinners, chemical solvents and strippers, pesticides and herbicides, pool chemicals, motor oil and transmission fluid, antifreeze, gasoline and diesel fuel, propane tanks that are not empty, kerosene, acids and caustic chemicals, asbestos-containing materials, medical and biological waste including needles and sharps, prescription medications, ammunition and explosives, fireworks, radioactive materials, and any materials contaminated with mold or biological hazards. These items must be disposed of through Winnebago County's household hazardous waste Clean Sweep program or through specialized disposal companies. If you are unsure whether a specific item qualifies as hazardous, text a photo to (920) 424-9827 and we will tell you immediately whether we can take it and suggest the appropriate disposal resource if we cannot.
Are there extra fees for recycling or disposal of specific items?
Most items are included in Clear The Clutter's standard volume-based pricing with no additional surcharges. However, a small number of specialty items carry recycling fees because they require specialized processing that goes beyond normal disposal. Tires carry a recycling fee of $5 for standard car tires and $10 for truck or SUV tires, which covers the cost of licensed tire recycling in Wisconsin. CRT televisions (the old tube-style TVs) may carry a small fee because CRT recycling involves extracting lead from the glass. Extremely heavy single items exceeding 300 pounds — such as cast iron bathtubs, commercial safes, or industrial equipment — may carry a handling surcharge to cover the additional crew members and equipment required. Refrigerant recovery for appliances like refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers carries a surcharge of $25 to $50 per unit. All potential additional fees are disclosed and agreed upon before any work begins. The quote you receive is the price you pay.
Can Clear The Clutter take exercise equipment?
Yes, we remove all types of exercise equipment including treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, rowing machines, weight benches, home gym systems such as Bowflex and Total Gym, free weights and dumbbells, weight plates, squat racks, Smith machines, stair climbers, and exercise balls. Exercise equipment removal is a common request because these items are bulky, heavy, and difficult for homeowners to move on their own. Many exercise machines also need to be partially disassembled to fit through doorways — our crew brings the necessary tools and handles all disassembly. Exercise equipment that is still in working condition is donated when possible. Metal components from broken equipment are recycled. Pricing is based on volume like all of our services, and most single pieces of exercise equipment fall within the $100 to $150 range. Text a photo to (920) 424-9827 for an exact quote.
Does Clear The Clutter remove items from upper floors?
Yes, our crew removes items from any floor of your home or building including basements, second floors, third floors, and attics. There is no additional surcharge for carrying items up or down stairs for standard residential jobs with typical stairways. Our crew is experienced at navigating furniture and appliances through narrow stairways, tight hallways, and small doorways. They use furniture dollies, moving straps, and protective blankets to move heavy items safely without damaging your walls, floors, or railings. For commercial buildings with elevator access, we use the elevator when available. For extremely tight or complex moves — such as removing a couch through a spiral staircase or extracting a piano from a third-floor walkup — mention the specifics when requesting your quote so we can plan the right crew size and equipment.
